Contact any of our locations for information. Look for our new and exciting Competition Programs. The Sparring Competition Team has been working hard for the past few months, preparing for upcoming events. Thus far they have done a fantastic job, conditioning themselves, and bringing their minds and bodies to a state of perfection. Every practice is a new experience and teaches them what they need to know, not only to defend themselves physically in a sparring match, but to understand the mental nature of their opponent.

In addition to the Sparring Competition Team we are adding a new Kata Competition Team which will combat all the necessary elements of preparing and performing katas at competitions. There is an obvious need to condition one’s body to perform a great kata, as it is, and should be a workout in itself. Katas (formal exercises) are suppose to condition the body, mind, and soul, while educating a martial artist in the correct execution of basic blocks, strikes, and stances. Just like the Sparring Team, we will be holding tryouts shortly, and we invite everyone to take part. Regardless if you make the team or not, it is a great experience, and we offer so many programs which suit all types of martial artists.

Lastly, in order to develop an all around competetor we are encouraging all of our competition team members as well as the rest of our students to be a part of the Weapons Competition Team. This is an exciting addition to the tri part competition program and will surely perfect your skills at handling all types of martial arts weapons.

The new and exciting Leadership Program, is something everyone should be part of. Throughout the year, we are now challenging and educating our students not only how to become great martial artists, but working on building their self-esteem, team work skills, and creativity among many other things. Our leadership program has taken off in Winthrop and we have now begun to expand it to North Reading and Lynnfield. Contact any one of our locations to find out more information to sign up today. The initiative and mission of Cervizzi’s Martial Arts Academy ® (CMAA) is to provide a entire body workout for our students. The mind; a vital element of our body, must be part of everyone’s entire body workout on a daily basis. CMAA is dedicated to developing our student’s skills physically and mentally on many different levels. We are now implementing a new program to challenge the mind and educate our students to become the leaders of tomorrow, today!

In today’s very competitive society it is important to establish yourself as an efficient, innovative, and productive leader. This is typically done through hard work and many years of hands on training, not to mention the ever so popular ‘learning from your mistakes’. The Leadership Program gives you the advantage above everyone else by providing insight and training for leadership skills. The skill sets to be learned and used include team building and management, personality considerations, research, time management, resume building (educational related), public speaking and presenting, organizational skills, and creativity.

We plan to exercise the minds of all of our students and a few ways this will happen is through vigorous classes that will focus on how each individual can be more effective in different situations. One such situation may be speaking in front of groups, which is easy for some and very natural, but for others it can be a nightmare. To overcome this nightmare or just become better at speaking in front of groups for those that are comfortable we will create situations that even the best speaker will question what to do. For instance: What to do when interrupted or one looses their train of thought? What if you are asked to present something you did not prepare? How do you involve other team members in a presentation? Who is the audience? This is only one section we will focus on and although important, it is just as vital for leaders to become active members of the community; so we will also engage the people where we live and set up events to raise money for people that are less fortunate and aid in providing materials for the leadership team’s success.

Lastly, it is our understanding that many of our students have the need for higher education at prestigious schools. The Leadership Program is an excellent accolade to the rest of our student’s accomplishments and will add incredible depth to any student wanting to attend such schools. Essays, presentations, interviews, we will encompass it all in the Leadership Program. We want to lead you to the next chapter of your life, as a leader yourself - in this new entire body workout.

On Sunday, March 28th Master Paul Cervizzi along with other instructors conducted a successful Black Belt Exam in Falmouth, MA. The day was filled with excited, eager, and nervous martial arts students who have been preparing for months. Cervizzi’s Martial Arts Academy® would like to congratulate each individual on the tremendous job they had done during the grueling 6 hour exam. It was evident everyone came prepared for the exam, which consisted of two intense parts; a written portion and physical section. Both students and instructors should be proud. “I want to personally thank not only the students but the instructors who work day in and day out with all the students,” said Master Paul Cervizzi. For pictures, check out the gallery!
