Master Paul B. Cervizzi instructs at all of the CMAA schools and holds seminars on a regular basis. Master Cervizzi personally teaches all instructors. Instruction comes in many forms; Martial Arts training, teacher training, program development and classes in history and tradition. After receiving the Rank of Yondan, Master Cervizzi opened his own school in Winthrop, Massachusetts in August of 1995, appropriately named Cervizzi’s Martial Arts Academy®. On November 4th, 1999 Master Cervizzi would promote the first six of his own Black Belts in the Cervizzi’s System of Martial Arts. This system includes a Kempo backbone, complemented by Goju Ryu, and Jujitsu. In May of 2003 Master Cervizzi would open another Cervizzi’s Martial Arts Academy® located in Lynnfield, MA, and in 2006 another in North Reading, MA. |
Janice Corkhum (Yondan) Director of Operations, Kickboxing Instructor![]() Janice Corkhum Janice began her journey in the Martial Arts in 1997 when she enrolled at CMAA. Since then, Janice has had great success helping to form this one-of-a-kind program. In 2008 she received the Female Chief Instructor of the Year by the World Martial Arts Federation Hall of Fame. Janice is the Director of CMAA, and is involved in the daily classes at the Academy; as a 4th Dan Martial Arts Instructor and Kickboxing Instructor. Prior to Janice’s tenure at Cervizzi’s she attained her Bachelors degree - in Management Science, with a concentration in Marketing and a minor in Public Relations. Janice is an enthusiastic runner, has comleted 2 goofy Challenges in WDW and comleted her first Boston Marathon as a member of the Children’s Hospital Boston, Miles for Miracles team this past April and a proud mother of 2 girls. |
Chris Crocker (Yondan) Assistant Director Programming & Development, Kickboxing Instructor, Head CMAA Kata & Weapons Team Coach![]() Chris Crocker At the age of 12 Chris began studying the Martial Arts with Master Paul Cervizzi when the school opened its doors in 1995. Chris was among the first of 6 black belts Master Cervizzi had promoted him in May of 1999 and is currently a 4th Dan in the Cervizzi’s Self Defense System. Throughout his Martial Arts career Chris has been dedicated to learning and teaching the martial way; developing and creating new programs at CMAA to help others reach their goals and dreams. On a personal level, his Martial Arts education has helped him focus and attain his B.S. degree at Northeastern University, as well as his Master’s Degree in Architecture. |
Kris Smith (Yondan) Chief Instructor North Reading![]() Kris Smith Kris fell in love with the Martial Arts after seeing Bruce Lee on television when she was just a little girl. At the age of 15 she finally convinced her parents to sign her up for Martial Arts classes. For the next 28 years Kris would continue to grow and prosper in her training and would join the Cervizzi’s Martial Arts a few years ago. Currently she is a 4th Dan Chief Instructor at our North Reading School instilling her love of the martial arts she fell in love with long ago, into the next generation of students. |
Diana Dustin (Yondan) Assistant Director of Curriculum and Development, Chief Instructor Lynnfield, Kickboxing Instructor, CMAA Sparring Team Coach![]() Diana Dustin Diana has been studying the Martial Arts for 10 years at CMAA. In May of 2010 she attained the rank of 4th Dan. She is a member of the Black Belt Club and has attended many martial arts seminars with some of the great figures of the martial arts world. Diana is currently the chief instructor at our Lynnfield location and finds watching and being involved in the journey that each student makes from their first experience with the martial arts is something very fulfilling. Diana is also heavily involved in community projects such as Pillings Pond appreciation day, Bright Horizon’s daycare center and have also contributed to numerous fundraising programs in the Lynnfield community. In 2008 she received the Female Chief Instructor of the Year by the World Martial Arts Federation Hall of Fame. |
Tewfik Guenanou (Yondan) Senior Instructor, MuayThai Instructor, Head CMAA Sparring Team Coach, Kickboxing Instructor, Personal Trainer![]() Tewfik Guenano At the age of 12 Sensei Tewfik (Sensei T) began studying Martial Arts in Algeria, where he would train for many years for several hours a day. At the age of 18 in 1992 Sensei Tewfik won his first of many kickboxing championship competitions. He would then go on and win many more championships in Morocco and Algeria for years to come. Between 1997-2006 Sensei Tewfik would instruct in his own dojo, and become League President of Kickboxing in 2005/2006 and Martial Arts Technical Director of Taekwondo from 2002-2005 in Oran, Algeria. Sensei Tewfik is currently a 4th Dan and has experience in Karate Kyokushinkai, Kickboxing (Semi Contact, Full Contact), Self Defense, and Muay Thai. |
Emily Donnellan (Yondan) Senior Instructor, CMAA Kata Team Coach![]() Emily Donnellan Emily is a 4th Dan instructor at our Lynnfield location. She began training in 1997 at our Winthrop location. Since then, Emily has gone on to attain her college degree in Elementary Education becoming and currently a candidate for her Special Education Degree at Lesley University. As a school teacher during the day, and martial arts instructor at night, Emily is a natural. On a regular basis she is able to adapt a class to suit any individuals need. She prides herself in keeping classes fun, exciting, and educational the same time. |
Anthony Scoppa (Sandan) Black Belt Instructor, Level III![]() Anthony Scoppa Anthony has been studying the Martial Arts for 13 years, and earned his black belt at the age of 13. He has competed in a number of different competitions, and now enjoys being a judge at similar competitions. Anthony constantly sets goals for himself, and loves to be a huge part of the community. He is currently a student at Umass Lowell, majoring in computer science. Anthony is also a member of the CMAA sparring team. |
Mark Loud (Sandan) Chief Instructor Winthrop![]() Mark Loud A practitioner in the Martial Arts since he was 7, Martial Arts has affected Mark’s spiritually and mentally. He has been teaching for over 5 years now and it has made him into a stronger leader and more confident individual. He is currently teaching at the Winthrop dojo and teaches classes for Chelsea Community Schools (CCS Karate). Mark is an avid and talented musician for many years as well. On top of playing a vital role in the program Sensei Mark is an active community member in and out of the dojo. Mark is the captain of the CMAA sparring team. |
Regina Frizzi (Nidan) Black Belt Instructor, Level II![]() Regina Frizzi Regina began her training at CMAA when she 12 years old. After trying dance, she realized that is was not for her. When her father signed her up to the program at CMAA, she then gave the Martial Arts a chance and it has since influenced her life to a great degree. Regina is very family oriented and her family has a background in Martial Arts as well. Her mother and uncle were her biggest influences for joining. |
Luke Kimball (Nidan) Black Belt Instructor, Level II, CMAA Sparring Team Coach![]() Luke Kimball As a 1st Dan instructor at Cervizzi’s Martial Arts Academy® in Lynnfield Sensei Luke has been studying the Cervizzi’s Self Defense System since August of 2003. Sensei Luke has been lifelong resident of Lynnfield, and graduated from Merrimack College in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science with a major in Business Management and minor in Organizational Behavior. He has become a member of the Blackbelt Club and competes regularly at the local tournaments. |
Stephen Ruggiero II (Sandan) Black Belt Instructor Level III![]() Stephen Ruggiero II Stephen is a high school student approaching college. For 11 years Stephen has been part of the CMAA family and is currently a 4th Dan Jr. Black Belt and for the past 6 years Stephen has been instructing at the Winthrop dojo. Beginning in our first small dojo, Stephen has seen the program grow to larger dojos and more in-depth programs. He is sincerely honored to be a part of the growth of the organization, and proud of the growth he has seen in himself as a martial artist and a person in the real-world as a result of what he learned from CMAA. |
Michael Tedesco (Sandan) Black Belt Instructor Level III![]() Michael Tedesco Michael a 2nd Dan Jr. Black Belt has been a practitioner of the Martial Arts for more than 10 years. He began taking martial arts lessons in1998 and recently joined Cervizzi’s Martial Arts Academy® when we opened our doors in North Reading. Michael along with his great personality and fervor for learning is a great addition to the CMAA Staff. Michael is a candidate for his adult 3rd Dan and is a member of the CMAA sparring team. |
Shelby Massa (Shodan) Black Belt Instructor Level I![]() Shelby Massa Shelby Massa is a high school student and a junior 1st Dan. She began taking classes in 2001 mainly to be by her brother’s side. The background of Shelby’s story is that her brother has special needs and had only a few options for activities, none of which were as beneficial as karate. Shelby would continue with her Martial Arts training at CMAA all the while purusing her passion for golf. Shelby a very active member in the community and in the dojo and is a natural leader, which suits her well being part of the Leadership Team at CMAA. |
Jim Feeley (Shodan) Black Belt Instructor Level I![]() Jim Feeley Jim joined the program a few years ago because of his personal need to push himself to the limits. He is a music enthusiast, a diligent college student, and a Black belt instructor that is very proud to not only see his accomplishments, but to see the accomplishments the children make on a daily basis. |
